MacOS Version ?

Post by DarkVamp »

Hi,

is there a chance I could get a new nightly-build for my MacOS (PowerPC) ? I would love to test ZORK and 7TH GUEST.

Setting up the build environment could take an evening or two, though :)

There is a Wiki page about compiling ScummVM. But I don't have a Mac (unless you count the old Mac Plus lurking in my closet), so I don't know how useful it is.

I have made my own binaries of this before, but I did get a new mac. I will try to set up the env again and make some new ones. I'm not sure how I will "distribute" it though.

edit: do anyone need PPC or can I skip it?

If you're gonna make binaries, do PPC too.
I'm pretty sure there would be demand for it.

the ppc stuff needs gcc3 and xcode 1.2, both of which I do not have... I think I'll skip them for now.

The intel-build (should work with both 1.4 and 1.5) is now done. I will try to get it put on the download page.

I put them here, both the snapshot of today and the 0.13.0 testing branch build.

Actually, I am one of the ScummVM core developers and project leads, and also am a Mac user. But I have moved to an Intel mac long ago, and making cross compiled universal builds is a PITA, so I tend to leave that to others or only do it when absolutely necessary. Which is virtually never :).

If I ever find some time, I might setup my old PowerBook with a build system that generates universal binaries compatible with 10.2+ (PowerPC) and 10.4+ (Intel); but I am not sure if/when that will be. Note that on 10.5, the oldest system one seems to be able to target is 10.3.9 (PowerPC). Still, would be nice to find somebody with the resources to generate universal builds of ScummVM at regular intervals. But people like that (read: with the ability, the time and the interest to undertake this) are scarce.
