Can I compress audio files for sam n'max?

Post by LoudMaximus »

I have already converted the monster.sou file to mp3 but does it work also to convert the soundtrack as detailed in the official faq?Just wondering as the game crashed at the point where bumpus is about to sing his song in his mansion and i was wondering if this was the cause of it

Agentq's advice here is monster.sou files are best left alone unless storage is an issue.

No,its not that file im inquiring about but the mp3 files found in the soundtrack folder. Its detailed in the faq for some games that they can be converted to WAV (IMA ADPCM i think), but i was just wondering if this was applicable to sam and max too

If you're talking about the 5 or 6 redbook audio tracks on the game CD they're not used anywhere in the game. They're just for playback on a stereo. These tracks were never in a soundtrack folder in MP3 format on any official Sam & Max game CD, though, which leads me to believe that you've acquired an illegal copy.
