Backyard Football problem... hangs during picking the kids

I got Backyard Football, but I have a problem: It hangs during the picking of the kids. I pick Dante Robinson, and then, without fail, right after that it hangs.

What on Earth am I doing wrong, and what files do I need that HE decided I didn't need in the freaking install?? BTW, the BYF I have is the original version (that just says Backyard Football on the box) and it was a $5 box at Ingles with instructions on how to play this game in Vista.

Oh goody, so it's not just me.

I guess that this isn't a high priority issue, to be honest.

I'll try the season play and see if that particular issue can be skirted around.

EDIT: It can be skirted around, but now I've run into another problem: Apparently the audio doesn't work too well. I can't hear any audio whatsoever now, so I gotta check on that front.
