Nice. I hope you are OK with some advice on how to make ones even nicer in the future....
My avatar is an example of how you can use the awesome png standard to add some shading and blending.
- Make a copy layer of your picture, select all the non-transparent pixels and make them black.
Now you have a 'black blob layer'
- Use the blur filter on the black blob you made.
You can blur it more then once, or make more copies of the black blob layer.
- Put the black blob layer behind the picture layer.
Now you have a nice shadow outline that blends with the background.
This can be done with ease in Photoshop or with the Gimp.
Jpg or gif do not support half transparent pixels (no alpha channel) but png does. This gives you the ability to make smooth shadows.
