Sea Battles in COMI

Sea Battles in COMI
So i'm playing Curse of Monkey Island on my Macbook, and since the spacebar is used for PAUSE in ScummVM, i find myself unable to shoot the canons so i cant progress in the game...can anyone help me fix this?

Check the game's manual.
