The extracted V1-C64 version of Zak McKracken

Post by icanntspell »

What exactly is the reason the extracted version of Zak McKracken isn't properly detected? If I extract the files, and start it ScummVM reports this is an unknown version of the game. Isn't it just a matter of adding the MD5 to the detection table?

As a test, I just tried it myself, added the c64 md5sum to the detection table and compiled a new version. This version detected the extracted version of C64 flawless and ran perfectly.

I could file a bug report (or patch) if it's helpfull. The md5 I used :

In case no one has a clue about what I am talking about :

From the readme.txt
3.2) Commodore64 games notes:
---- ------------------------
Both Maniac Mansion and Zak McKracken run but Maniac Mansion is not yet
playable. Simply name the D64 disks "maniac1.d64" and "maniac2.d64"
respectively "zak1.d64" and "zak2.d64", then ScummVM should be able to
automatically detect the game if you point it at the right directory.

Alternatively, you can use 'extract_mm_c64' from the tools package to
extract the data files. But then the game will not be properly
autodetected by ScummVM, and you must make sure that the platform is set
to Commodore64. We recommend using the much simpler approach described
in the previous paragraph.
