Games work on Boxer but not ScummVM

I like Scumm way better than Boxer, but can only get my CD rom versions of the game to work in Boxer. I have a Macbook and copied all of the files from the game, into a folder. When I try and "add game" and just click on the folder that all the games are in, it tells me it can't find any game in the specified directory. However, like I said, they work on Boxer (the exe files). I'm not really sure what to do. Can anyone help?

What game(s) are you trying to play?

ScummVM runs SPECIFIC games that developers have spend time on to add support.
Boxer(DOSBox) is supposed to run anything that was made for DOS.
The advantage of ScummVM is that the games that DO run, are easier to install, run with less problems and need a lot less computing power.
